The plenary work of The Verkhovna Rada depends on the intention of the pro-governmental parliamentary majority to fulfill its duties before the Ukrainian citizens in compliance with the effective legislation. Oleksandr Lavrynovych, First Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraione, made the above-mentioned statement in the interview to the news agency "LIHABiznesInform".
"It depends on the responsibility of the representatives of the pro-governmental majority", - stated the politician and stressed that it was the pro-governmental majority, not the ruling coalition that was concerned. "I have to use this political term instead of a constitutional one, as there exists no ruling coalition responsible for the activity of the Ukrainian Parliament", - he specified and added: "The plenary work of the Parliament depends on the intention of the majority to fulfill its legislative duties before the Ukrainian citizens".
According to Oleksandr Lavrynovych, "the duties appertain not to the demands of the Party of Regions concerning increase of the social standards, but to the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law on Labour Remuneration and the Budget Code of Ukraine".
The politician underscored that the Party of Regions demonstrated flexibility in the settlement of the said matter, having suggested dividing the social standards into two separate aspects, namely, the pensions and social payments to the pensioners and orphans, and the minimum wage.
Oleksandr Lavrynovych answered the question concerning the results of negotiations between the Party of Regions and the BYuT regarding the efficient scrutiny of the issue on the increase of the social standards. He stated that the political forces failed to reach an agreement.
As far as the election campaign was concerned, Oleksandr Lavrynovych stated that the meeting of the Party of Regions would nominate Viktor Yanukovych as a candidate for presidency. "Yanukovych will take part in the elections only after the meeting. Unlike the others, he understands: the country can be democratic, provided it has a political structure".
